Schnorr safety washers were developed as a reliable and economic bolt locking device with the basic principle of a disc spring. This ingenious form combines the advantage of security through friction and mechanical locking.

Schnorr safety washers are now used world wide where secure fastening connections to counter the effect of vibration are required.

The Schnorr safety washers are in the form of a disc spring but with a trapezodial cross-section and serrations on both sides. The outer diameter is matched to the head diameter of the pan head and socket head cap screws.

The design of the serrations prevents friction and damage to components when tightening. When flat the serrations bite into the mating surfaces and prevent loosening.

Schnorr safety washers are available in 2 versions. They have the same inner and outside diameters together with the same serrations.

Standard type "S" suitable for normal requirements and available for bolt grades up to 8.8. Bolt sizes M1.6 to M36.

Reinforced type "VS" suitable for high strength bolts grade 8.8 to 10.9. Bolt sizes M5 to M36.

Schnorr Heavy Duty Load Washers

Manufactured to DIN 6796 these load washers have been specially developed for high strength bolts of grades 8.8 to 12.9. They are available for bolt sizes M2 to M30.

Schnorr High Stress Load Washers

These load washers have a smaller outer diameter than the heavy duty load washers (DIN 6796). A notable feature of these washers is the slightly curved form which provides a progressively increasing characteristic curve. Despite the smaller outside diameter dimensions this makes is possible to achieve the same load as the heavy duty load washers. These washers are primarily used when the space available is insufficient for standard load washers. They are available for bolt sizes M6 to M30.
